Jeff Allen is an entrepreneur with the natural ability to recognize good design and emerging trends. Over the past four decades, his flagship company, Allen Land Design, has been creating and installing award winning gardens that are ecologically sound and beneficial to the environment. Jeff has an eye for details, always looking at the big picture, seeing ideas and solutions where others may see problems. In the end he incorporates clients’ desires for a beautiful landscape into reality.

Over the years he also started complimentary businesses, such as an ornamental grass nursery, Muchas Grasses, and Biodynamic olive tree cultivation company, Olivet Groves. Jeff loves a challenge and is unafraid to be a champion for environmental stewardship.

In 2004, Jeff co-founded one of the pioneering firms in the biodiesel industry, American Biodiesel/Community Fuels. He has served as president on the Sonoma County Laguna Foundation and currently serves on the Board of Summit State Bank, where he leads by example in innovation, sustainability, and integrity. He often says with a smile he has a doctorate degree in wisdom from the school of hard knocks, gained in classrooms around the world, which he is more than happy to share.

Sierra Hart

Director of Design

Sierra Hart’s talent lies in her ability to combine practical business sense with her natural flair for design and environmental awareness. Her communication skills and clarity of detail allow her to lead others through the intricacies involved in the design process.

With a degree in Environmental Studies from University of California, Santa Cruz, Sierra headed south to work on experimental farm programs in Costa Rica. After returning to the US and working at a children’s camp for environmental education, Sierra stepped into the world of Landscape Architecture and design, a field which encompasses her experience and passion for sustainable agriculture and ecological design. Now with over 20 years in the field of landscape design, Sierra uses her talent to enrich various community projects and volunteer endeavors.

In her position as Director of Design for Allen Land Design she brings clients’ visions to reality on commercial and residential projects. Recent projects have included landscape renovations at Agilent Technologies Fountaingrove Campus, Santa Rosa YMCA, Bella Vineyards and many private residences.

When faced with challenging projects, Sierra’s ability to combine cutting edge creativity with a deep understanding of the practicalities involved make her an important asset to any enterprise. 

Anne-Marie Allen

Principal

Anne-Marie Allen, a glorious garden designer, began her landscape career in Berkeley, CA, where she opened Barefoot Gardens while studying horticulture classes at Merritt College. Through her behind-the-scenes contributions, including obtaining Biodynamic and Stellar Organic Certification, garden and website photography, and demonstration garden development, she has helped shape Allen Land Design into an award-winning entity know for its high-end residential and commercial gardens, interesting plant combinations, and meticulous attention to detail.

Anne-Marie’s extensive experience and expertise has now steered her towards philanthropic pursuits. She founded the non-profit, Deep Breath Healing Gardens, which transforms small outdoor spaces into personalized havens of tranquility and healing for cancer patients. She is dedicated to inspiring fellow gardeners and landscape businesses to offer these rejuvenating spaces as gestures of compassion and goodwill to their communities.
